Aquatic Safety Should Be a Focus at Your Health Club to Prevent Drownings

At the Club Industry Show earlier this month, Rick Kauffman of The Kels Group, and Wesley King, founder of Wesley King Consulting and RippleAffect.co, presented a session, “The Truth about Drowning Prevention—Committing to Change.” It wasn’t a typical session at our show, but it was an important one because it focused on aquatic safety, namely preventing drownings in your facility.

In addition to providing a space at the event for this session, we wanted to share this public service announcement from Kauffman. Kauffman and his wife Lori lost their three-year-old daughter, Kelsey, to drowning 26 years ago. The couple has since been on a mission to prevent drownings.

They came to the Club Industry Show to meet with clubs that have aquatic facilities. During their time at networking events, in their session and at their sponsor booth, they encountered 11 people who had a personal story about fatal drownings and even more stories of non-fatal drownings, according to King.

Watch this PSA to see what you can do to get involved and help to prevent drownings at your facility.

The Club Industry Show is over, but you can find out more by contacting Kauffman at The Kels Group or King at RippleAffect.co
