TRIB3 Plans Expansion into the United States, Adds Rob Barker to Team

Boutique fitness franchise TRIB3 has started preparation to expand into the United States, bringing on board Rob Barker as non-executive director to help support that expansion, the company announced.

TRIB3, based in London, is a franchised fitness brand that offers a curated heart-rate monitored 45-minute HIIT workout. It has 13 locations open in the United Kingdom, Spain, the Netherlands, Ireland and Finland. It has more than 60 locations sold.

The company recently joined the International Franchise Association. That association will assist TRIB3 in preparing for its expansion into the United States. No date has been set for opening in the country, and no initial location has been announced, according to a TRIB3 spokesperson.

Barker had served as vice president/general manager of Peloton Commercial, which includes Precor, but he left the company in early February, and TRIB3 announced on Feb. 9 that he would be "taking a significant stake" in TRIB3.

Barker spearheaded the sale of Precor to Peloton in 2021. He was responsible for the Peloton connected fitness products and app in all global commercial settings (outside of the home) and remained responsible for the Precor business globally as a business unit of Peloton interactive until his departure.

Barker will work closely with TRIB3 CEO Kevin Yates and fitness industry veterans Allan Fisher and his son Jonathan Fisher, who acquired a controlling stake in the business in 2019. TRIB3 was founded in 2016 by Yates and Dan Summerson.

“It is rare to come across someone with the sort of breadth and depth of leadership experience that Rob has in large sporting goods and fitness businesses, so the whole executive team feels privileged to start working with him,” Yates said in the announcement. “Rob´s experience is truly global and will be invaluable in helping TRIB3 to strategize and structure its international expansion through franchising.”
