Mayweather Boxing + Fitness Acquires KickHouse Franchise System

MW Fitness Holdings LLC, the parent company of Mayweather Boxing + Fitness, has acquired KickHouse Fitness LLC, for an undisclosed amount, the companies announced on Oct. 17.

The transaction combines the 65 Mayweather Boxing + Fitness franchise locations with the 26 KickHouse kickboxing franchise locations into a single group under MW Fitness Holdings LLC.

Mayweather Boxing + Fitness was founded in 2018 by undefeated world boxing champion Floyd Mayweather, and partners Burrel Wilks and James Williams. The company has grown from five locations in March 2020 to 65 today. It features high-intensity fitness experiences combining Mayweather’s workouts, instructional videos and intellectual property throughout its studios.

The studios under KickHouse, which was founded by Jessica Yarmey in October 2020 during the COVID-19 pandemic, will retain their name, according to Yarmey, who will continue to lead the KickHouse system and will support the combined system’s growth with the same overarching goal of supporting its franchisees to be successful.

KickHouse Fitness offers a variety of group exercise classes suited for people of all ages and fitness levels. The business recently expanded to 11 states and was ranked by Entrepreneur Magazine No. 36 on its Top & Emerging Franchises list and No. 118 on its Fastest Growing Franchises list in 2022.

The infrastructure and support behind the scenes that Mayweather offers appealed to Yarmey, she told Club Industry.

“I knew that there would be great things that each system could bring to the other to drive overall improvements and growth,” Yarmey said. “There are also immediate and quite significant economies of scale when you hit 100 locations, which our combined system is expected to be at by year end. It really excited me to be part of something that can be on this type of growth trajectory, where both systems can benefit and – most importantly – help our franchisees become most successful.”

That support will offer opportunities across all areas of the combined business, including marketing and franchisee support, she said.

“I saw that they truly care about their franchisees in the same way that we do,” Yarmey said. “So from a philosophical perspective, we were aligned from day one. Plus, the strengths of the Mayweather system are a great complement to the strengths of the KickHouse system. So, combining our super powers, there is nothing but great potential in the months and years ahead.

“Mayweather Boxing + Fitness has become one of the most recognizable brands in fitness over the past three years,” Williams, who serves as CEO of MW Fitness Holdings LLC, said in the announcement. “We are thrilled to combine KickHouse with our platform to enhance our infrastructure, improve our systems and increase the support that we provide to our franchisees.”

Yarmey previously served as chief marketing officer at Club Pilates where she helped the company grow from 225 locations to more than 615. She also worked for YouFit and Gold’s Gym.
