iFIT Workouts Nominated for a Sports Emmy

iFIT’s “Everest: A Trek to Base Camp” has received a nomination for a 2022 Sports Emmy Award from The National Academy of Television Arts & Science, the first time that programming originating from a connected fitness platform has been nominated for a Sports Emmy, iFIT announced.

The global fitness and well-being subscription technology company includes brands Freemotion, NordicTrack, ProForm, Sweat, Weider and 29029 .

The nomination category, Outstanding Interactive Experience - Original Programming, awards “original interactive sports content, multimedia storytelling, as well as significant and innovative social integration.” Other nominations in the same category are FOX College Football on FOXSports.com, House of Highlights on Bleacher Report, NBA on TNT, and NFL Slimetime on Nickelodeon.

“Everest: A Trek to Base Camp” is an 18-part, interactive treadmill workout that recreates a trek to Everest Base Camp for people of all fitness levels. The workout series is available in health clubs and studios on Freemotion commercial fitness equipment, at home on NordicTrack and ProForm equipment and on the go via the iFIT app.

When streamed through the touchscreen console of a Freemotion 22 SERIES REFLEX treadmill or incline trainer, iFIT technology automatically adjusts the incline to match the one on the screen, creating an interactive, immersive experience. The series helps exercisers build a solid hiking foundation by tackling steady-speed, train-to-terrain and recovery workouts, according to iFIT.

“We’re deeply honored by this nomination because it represents a significant commendation of iFIT’s unique approach to connected fitness,” said Mark Watterson, iFIT’s co-president and chief experience officer.

The awards ceremony will take place on May 24 at Jazz at Lincoln Center’s Frederick P. Rose Hall in  New York City.
