Active Wellness Launches Medically Integrated Wellness Center Chain

Active Wellness has launched Active Wellness Center, a medically integrated wellness center chain, the company recently announced.

Active Wellness is a fitness and wellness management company operating more than 50 fitness centers nationwide on behalf of its partners including healthcare systems, corporations, property managers and developers, and community centers.

In partnership with health system Providence, Active Wellness Center launched in January 2022 with four locations. Three of them are established fitness centers that have been rebranded to Active Wellness Center. They are in Petaluma, California; Napa, California; and Lake Oswego, Oregon. The fourth is a new build in Hillsboro, Oregon, opening this summer. All of the current Active Wellness Center locations are owned by Providence and managed by Active at this time.

Active is in discussion with a number of health care partners and real estate developers interested in both the development of new Active Wellness Centers and converting existing centers to become an Active Wellness Center.

Active Wellness formed a separate entity to acquire sites and invest in new development projects, a company spokesperson told Club Industry. It will continue its club management business under Active Wellness LLC.

“We are still a management company, but one that is driving growth through a new level of engagement with our partners,” the spokesperson said. “We have created a retail wellness center brand to provide our partners with a proven model, brand continuity, established practices, economies of scale and more.”

The company is launching the retail wellness center brand in response to the current health crisis in America, as well as the brand challenges that medical fitness centers face in the fitness consumer market, according to the company. The goal of the brand is to become the new front door to healthcare and to provide hospital systems and developers with a proven wellness center model and built-in brand.
