Fitness Challenge Encourages Sailors to Get Fit Before Going Home

USS SAN ANTONIO, At sea -- Several Navy sailors aboard the USS San Antonio are participating in a 60-Day Push Challenge to lose weight, increase overall health and look their best before heading home at the end of deployment.

Challenge organizers designed the program to run the last 60 days of the crew’s deployment at sea. Participants will be judged by the percentage of weight lost or by the number of inches lost during the challenge.

In addition to a fitness contest, the 60-Day Push Challenge includes nutritional coaching to help sailors make healthy lifestyle choices. Correct portion sizes are being posted in the galley so sailors are aware if they’re eating too much. Water intake also is stressed, and sailors are encouraged to use food journals to keep track of what they are eating and how much.
