XSport Sued for Spying in Tanning Room

CHICAGO -- A bodybuilder is suing XSport Fitness, Big Rock, IL, and one of its employees, alleging the employee spied on her while she was nude in a tanning room.

Amalia Reyes filed the lawsuit in the Circuit Court of Cook County (IL), Chicago. Reyes claims that on Oct. 20, 2008, Stoil Stove, the head engineer at an XSport Fitness in Chicago, spied on her through an opening in the ceiling of the tanning room while she was disrobing and preparing to tan, according to the complaint. Reyes also claims Stove had access to a private office adjacent to the tanning room and had equipment and ladders to gain access from the office to the ceiling area above the tanning room.

In the complaint, Reyes states she maintained a workout regimen of 25 hours per week and had been tanning every day for 10 years. She also states she has placed second in two bodybuilding competitions.

Because of the alleged spying incident, Reyes claims she has experienced “severe emotional pain and suffering, and other damages associated with the invasion and loss of her privacy, including medical expenses and decreased levels of performance at bodybuilding competitions, and the psychological inability to maintain her previous workout and tanning regimen,” according to the complaint. She is seeking more than $30,000 in damages.
