  • Elements recently named Bruce Fabel as its CEO and added Melina Jampolis to its fitness advisory board. Fabel worked for Life Time Fitness in 2001, Butterfly Life in 2003 and Diversified Health in 2007. Jampolis is a board-certified internist and physician nutrition specialist. She has hosted the Discovery Network's 10-episode FIT TV diet program “Diet Doctor.” Elements is a women-only franchise based in Miami. It has five open clubs and about 40 more that have been sold.

  • 24 Hour Fitness has made several recent changes to upper level staff. Chief Financial Officer Colin Heggie has been named president of California Fitness in Asia, reporting to CEO Carl Liebert. Heggie replaces Steve Clinefelter, who announced his retirement effective this summer. The new chief financial officer is Jeffrey Boyer, who joins 24 Hour from Michaels Stores Inc., where he served five years as president and chief financial officer. Tony Wells, who had served as 24 Hour's senior vice president of marketing, has been promoted to chief marketing officer. Jim Rowley, the north division president of 24 Hour, resigned last month to pursue other opportunities, according to the company. Dan Benning, who had served as 24 Hour's senior vice president of club operations and services, is now north division president.

  • The Navy recently introduced a new physical training uniform for sailors. The uniforms include a gold T-shirt with reflective Navy lettering and blue shorts with Navy lettering and reflective markings, according to the Navy. The new uniforms will be required for all Navy group and unit physical training. The new uniforms will begin hitting the Navy this month, starting with Recruit Training Command in Great Lakes, IL, and will phase into the rest of the fleet through September.
