Jack LaLanne Fitness Studio Opens at Orlando Hotel

The Jack LaLanne Physical Fitness Studio at Universal Orlando's Cabana Bay Beach Resort opened on Monday.

The studio consists of LaLanne memorabilia, including photos, trophies, artifacts and a full-size statue of LaLanne, who died in 2011. TVs interspersed among the latest equipment in the studio play old episodes of LaLanne's show, according to a press release from Universal Orlando. The facility was created in partnership with the LaLanne family.

"When you think of fitness during these iconic decades, Jack LaLanne just resonates in our minds," Russ Dagon, vice president and executive project director of Universal Creative, said in a statement. "This partnership with the LaLanne family will complement the new property wonderfully, and we're delighted that his name will live on here at Cabana Bay Beach Resort."

In addition to the Jack LaLanne studio, the resort includes a 10-lane bowling alley, two zero-entry pools, a dive tower water slide and Universal Orlando's first lazy river with waterfalls and cannons.

About 600 of the 1,800 rooms of the hotel opened on Monday. A grand opening is expected this summer.

Jack LaLanne would have turned 100 in September.
