Youfit Founder Rick Berks Resigns

Rick Berks, who founded Youfit in 2008, resigned from his position as CEO and chairman of the board at the end of May, citing philosophical differences with the company’s financial partner group. His daughter, Christy Berks-Stross, also left the company. She served as director of real estate development and legal counsel for real estate, corporate and general matter at Youfit.

Berks declined to offer details.

Youfit, Deerfield Beach, Florida, sent Club Industry this statement when asked about the resignations: “In the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic, Youfit has gone through several organizational changes, including the resignation of former Youfit CEO and Chairman of the Board Rick Berks, who has moved on to pursue other opportunities. Rick was the inspiration and guiding force for this company since its inception, and we will miss his leadership and vision. But because of his hard work, Youfit is positioned for success as it continues to grow and thrive. We are now gradually reopening up our clubs across the country as coronavirus restrictions ease, and we are so excited to welcome our staff and members back to the gym. We have missed our Youfit community and are looking forward to once again helping our members live healthier, more fit lives!”

Youfit has more than 100 locations in 14 states.
