Sports Club/LA Invests $2 Million in Equipment

LOS ANGELES -- The Sports Club/LA recently installed $2 million worth of new equipment at its clubs, according to the company. The West Los Angeles club received $1 million in new equipment and the Beverly Hills club received another $1 million in new equipment.

The equipment includes new cardio machines with personal TVs and iPod hookups, including the Cybex ArcTrainer, Life Fitness recumbent bike, Life Fitness treadmill, Precor EFX and Precor AMT. It also includes the Gsycle (a skating machine with dependent style pedals that offers a lateral motion), Woodway EcoMill (a self-powered treadmill) and VibePlate (vibration training equipment). The company also invested in some selectorized and free weight equipment.

Other changes at Sports Club Co. in the new year include some new group exercise classes, such as Mission Possible (a class that combines resistance training, stretching and cardio into one regimen) and several dance-based classes.
