Life Time Fitness to Move Athletic Events Division to Colorado

The athletic events division of Life Time Fitness is moving from Life Time headquarters in Chanhassen, MN, to Louisville, CO, according to a report in the Denver Business Journal.

In addition to its 113 health clubs around the country, Life Time has been acquiring athletic events. It now operates 65 of them, including the Leadville Race Series, the Miami Marathon and the New York City Triathlon. The new headquarters will consolidate the company's technology offerings (ChronoTrack and Athlinks) along with its leadership, marketing and creative teams under one roof, according to a company spokesperson.

Kimo Seymour, a senior vice president at Life Time, will oversee the office in the Denver suburb of Louisville. Seymour told the Denver Business Journal that the company plans to grow the division through acquisitions and organic growth. Seymour also said that Colorado was attractive to Life Time because residents there engage in a high level of outdoor athletic activity.

"We wanted to be in an area, first and foremost, that is endemic to our business," he told the Journal.

Half of the 55 people initially planned to staff the office will be transferring from Chanhassen. The other half will be hired locally, the Journal noted.

Some of the staff already work remotely in Colorado as the company has begun hiring in the area. Most of the rest of the staff will move to Colorado this summer once the office space is built out, the spokesperson says.

The company received about $3.52 million from the Colorado Economic Development Commission to situate the headquarters in Louisville, according to the Journal.
