Health and fitness facilities in the spotlight.

* The Fieldhouse Family Sports and Wellness Center and the Kids Club (Zanesville, Ohio) has completed a four-month, $250,000 expansion and renovation. The investment paid for a new fitness center, a facility for infant care, renovations to the pool and gymnastics area, and a state-of-the-art material that keeps heat and sunlight reflecting off of the sports facility's 30,000-square-foot roof structure. This material increases natural lighting while decreasing electrical and heating costs.

* North Harbor Tower, a 600-unit apartment complex in Chicago, has chosen Tennis Corp. of America to manage its 7,000-square-foot inhouse fitness center.

* The Newtown Athletic Club (NAC), in Newtown, Pa., has completed NAC Youthplex, a 32,000-square-foot structure that will house the newly created NAC Athletic Association for sport leagues in the full-court gymnasium, a martial arts center, the Newtown Gymnastics Club, the NAC Dance Academy, Youth Fitness Program and more. Youthplex programs are open to the community (nonmembers welcome) for a registration fee, and are free to NAC family members. In honor of the opening of this new community facility, NAC donated $5 for every new membership in September and October to Big Brothers/Sisters of Bucks County.

* Club Fit has broken ground for a 25,000-square-foot expansion at its Briarcliff, N.Y., facility. The project includes a state-of-the-art aquatic center, additional lockers, a new activity center for children ages 6-13, a new nursery and play area for toddlers, an expanded cardio area, larger cycling and wellness studios, and more space for quiet activities such as yoga, prenatal exercise classes and Pilates-based activities.

* Clarksville Athletic Club, in Clarksville, Tenn., has converted its outdoor sand volleyball court into a 6,000-square-foot strength training center consisting of free weights and equipment for circuit training. The area Clarksville formerly used for circuit training will now house additional cardio equipment. NHC Rehabilitation - specialists in physical, occupational and speech therapy - will occupy the space that once contained the free weights. Clarksville has also added space for the Kids Club, an area designed especially for children ages 7-13.
