Club Industry has started a new section on our website called IdeaXchange in which some industry consultants and club operators will be sharing their thoughts on topics and inviting you to join in the discussion.
We are starting with an industry veteran, Michael Scott Scudder, who has been a club operator and a consultant in the business for many years. Lately, he has operated the Fitness Business Council, doing research and consulting work. His first column for discussion is on retention and the fact that we still have no retention formula in the fitness industry.
We also have a newcomer (well, compared to Scudder, he's a newcomer) as a contributor. Brent Gallagher co-owns West U Fit, a training studio in Houston, with his wife, Cassie. The two have built a profitable business with no debt and some interesting ideas on how to operate a club. His first column is about the importance of building leaders in your facility, a topic he also spoke about at this year's Club Industry Show.
Take a few moments to read both columns and use the commenting option below the columns to share your thoughts. Both Scudder and Gallagher will contribute columns through the coming year, and we will add columnists in 2015. Stay tuned.
