Curt Beusman, founder of Saw Mill Club in Mount Kisco, NY, is on a winning streak. Well, that may not be quite accurate. Stuart Goldman, managing editor for Club Industry, is really the one on the winning streak.
Curt received our Lifetime Achievement Award last year and was the subject of a profile that Stuart wrote about Curt that has won a 2011 Jesse H. Neal Award in the individual profile category, a 2011 ASBPE West Regional Gold Award in the individual profile category and, as we learned today, a 2011 gold Eddie Award in the single article category for B-to-B, Recreation/Sports/Outdoor. Although some of Stuart's winning streak is due to Curt's great life story and colorful personality, much of it is due to Stuart's reporting and writing skills.
On top of that, Lara Hale, Club Industry's senior associate editor, won the silver in the same Eddie Award category for her April 2011 story about aquatics issues related to ADA requirements and the Virginia Graeme Baker Act. (I am happy to report that Stuart and Lara refrained from trash talking while we awaited the results of the Eddie Awards.)
These honors are in addition to several awards that the staff has received in the last two years. Awards are subjective, but we would like to think that this list shows we are doing something right!
