2019 Isn’t Returning; Your Club's Sales and Marketing Must Change

It’s not often you get such a powerful group of sales and marketing experts together in one room, but it is happening at the Club Industry Executive Summit Nov. 8-10 in Nashville.

As more members return to health clubs and studios, it may be tempting to return to your old sales and marketing habits. But everything has changed since the pandemic. And that means you need to change your sales and marketing. The problem is, you may not know where and how to change.

But these four experts do:

  • Corey Smallwood, goPerformance & Fitness
  • Rich DeStasio, The Fitness Performance Group
  • Vanessa Severiano, Vanessa Severiano LLC
  • Marisa Hoff, Empower Consulting

In the workshop “Sales & Marketing Practices for Today's Consumers,” they will give the owners and C-suite attendees at the Club and Studio Summit portion of the Club Industry Executive Summit a variety of takeaways to implement when they return home that will move sales and marketing forward.

The workshop includes these four individual presentations:

  • Know Your Audience and Avatar, presented by Smallwood
  • Bundling and Unbundling Services, presented by DeStasio
  • Lead Generation, presented by Severiano LLC
  • Low-Cost Marketing, presented by Hoff

Afterwards, the four experts will sit on a panel to take your questions.

Smallwood is director of operations at goPerformance and Fitness in Clarksburg, Maryland. He previously worked for ActivTrax and prior to that was vice president of operations for the Thomas Plummer Company.

DeStasio is vice president of programs and partnerships for City Fitness in Philadelphia. He has also served as president of The Fitness Performance Group; as vice president of fitness operations for The Edge Fitness Clubs and as senior director, fitness operations, at Town Sports International.

Severiano has more than 20 years of experience in creating, managing and developing brands in the fitness industry. She has worked with mega brands and startups and is recognized as a strong leader with a proven track record of sales and marketing success. She is the host of The Business Side of Fitness Podcast and the vice president of marketing for Active Life.

Hoff is owner of Be Military Fit Los Angeles, an outdoor workout, and director of operations at The Empower Group, a full-service consulting firm. She has more than 10 years of experience in almost all aspects of the health and fitness industry. In addition, she is an international speaker who regularly presents at Club Industry, IHRSA, Athletic Business and many other fitness and business events.
