Fitness apps on smartphones may track workouts as well or better than wearable fitness tracking devices, according to a new study.

The smartphone in your members' pocket may turn out to be their best workout buddy, according to a study from the University of Pennsylvania and a related commentary in the Journal of the American Medical Association (JAMA).
