Police Arrest Man in Planet Fitness Five Months After Alleged Assault at XSport Fitness

William B. Neal is charged with assault, burglary, petit larceny and criminal trespass for the alleged June 18 incident at a XSport Fitness club in New York.

A New York man who allegedly assaulted a woman at an XSport Fitness this summer was arrested at a Planet Fitness club on Nov. 20.

William B. Neal, 30, of Central Islip, New York, is charged with assault, burglary, petit larceny and criminal trespass for the alleged incident that occurred at a Massapequa, New York, XSport Fitness on June 18. Prior to the alleged incident, Neal was notified by XSport Fitness that he was no longer allowed on XSport Fitness properties, according to a media release from the County of Nassau Police Department. No reason was given for the ban of Neal from the club. Despite the ban, Neal gained access to the club using a false name, according to the release.

After gaining access to the property, Neal entered a tanning booth room and hid behind equipment, according to detectives. When a female client, 52, entered the room and the tanning bed, Neal came out of hiding and attempted to remove the victim's personal property. Neal pushed the woman down when he was confronted and fled the scene. The victim sustained a large contusion and "substantial pain" to her upper right arm, according to detectives.

Neal was arrested at 12:45 a.m. on Nov. 20 at a Planet Fitness in Hicksville, New York, without incident, according to detectives. No explanation was offered for how police located Neal at the Planet Fitness location. Neal's next court appearance is Dec. 8 in Nassau First District Court.
