PHILADELPHIA -- LA Fitness is the subject of a recently filed consumer class-action lawsuit involving cancellation policies with its monthly membership contracts.
The lawsuit was filed in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia by the law firm of Berger & Montague, P.C., on behalf of former and current LA Fitness members. The suit claims that the Irvine, CA-based club company charged the former members at least one additional monthly billing charge after they had canceled their monthly dues membership.
Current members allege in the suit that their monthly membership contracts with LA Fitness contain egregious cancellation provisions and that the members will be forced to pay for one or more months after they cancel their contracts.
LA Fitness, when contacted by Club Industry, had no comment on the lawsuit.
