Spartan Fitness, a Glens Falls, NY-based club that was popular with local athletes, has closed after its owner, Scott Rabine, pleaded guilty to two felonies. He admitted to selling prescription painkillers outside his gym and fraudulently receiving more than $4,600 in benefits from Medicaid.

A plea agreement calls for Rabine to receive a sentence of eight to 12 years in jail and three years of parole for third-degree sale of a controlled substance and third-degree grand larceny, according to an article in PostStar.com. When he is sentenced on April 21, the judge will determine the exact length of the prison term.

He was arrested last summer after selling oxycodone pills to undercover state police officers four separate times. During one of the sales, he sold as many as 134 pills, and all the sales were recorded on audio and video, the article states.

Other charges relating to the sale of anabolic steroids and illegal possession of a gun as a felon will be dropped as part of the plea deal, according to PostStar.com.
