More Women Are Strength Training But More Progress Needed

ATLANTA -- More women are lifting weights now than in 1998, according to a recent study from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). After analyzing self-reported data from 1998 to 2004, experts found that 17.5 percent of women are doing some form of strength training two or more times a week, up from 14.4 percent in 1998. Despite the increase, that percentage is still substantially lower than the national 2010 objective of 30 percent.
