Molly Kemmer began her chairperson duties with the International Health, Racquet and Sportsclub Association (IHRSA) on Wednesday.
Kemmer is the regional director for EXOS/Medi-Fit Corporate Services and will serve in the chairperson role for the 2015-2016 term.
"This position is a tremendous honor and responsibility, encompassing my passion for service and relationships," Kemmer said in a statement. "The collaborative strategic work of the board and IHRSA staff today will bolster the future impact and relevance of our industry, thereby impacting global health."
Kemmer was elected in March and is the third woman to hold the position in IHRSA history.
"When contemplating the chairperson role, I thought about what this opportunity meant to me personally, and what it would mean for my organization," she said in April. "This position will allow me to honor my passion in service, facilitate conversations on a higher level, and develop needed initiatives to bolster the long-term impact and relevance of our industry in impacting global health."
Also on July 1, four newly elected members began serving four-year terms on the IHRSA Board of Directors. They are Stone Creek Club and Spa President/General Manager Larry Conner, Nike Athletic Centers General Manager Missy Moss, Wisconsin Athletic Clubs Owner Raymond O'Connor and Newtown Athletic Club Owner Jim Worthington.
Board members who completed their term on June 30 include Jasmin Kirstein of My Sportlady, Christian Pierar of De Fitness Organisatie (DFO) and Brent Darden of Brent Darden Consulting, who served a five-year term as chairperson and ex-officio.
The IHRSA Board is seeking new members. The deadline to apply for the 2016-2020 term is July 31.
