The Fitness Company Acquires Elmwood Park Athletic Club

The club chain expands its New Jersey-New York corridor market

ELMOOD, N.J. - With its recent purchase of Elmwood Park Athletic Club, the Fitness Company has expanded its presence in the northern New Jersey territory. An operator of more than 70 fitness and wellness centers in 10 states, the Fitness Company had been managing Elmwood for the past 24 months, completing the sale in December.

With this most recent acquisition, the fitness chain now has eight clubs in the northern New Jersey region, and more than 50 clubs on the East Coast.

According to Vice President Keith Worts, "The Elmwood Park Athletic Club supports our strategy to fill in the northern New Jersey/New York corridor. By combining [our company's] systems with strong on-site general management, the club has grown significantly over the past 24 months."

Operating health and wellness centers for more than 16 years, the Fitness Company offers both management services and club design and development services, with clients ranging from corporate wellness centers to hotel health spas to commercial centers. The company owns 26 facilities and manages 51 others.
