* Tennis Corporation of American is sponsoring the IHRSA Community Tennis Development Award, a new tennis award that, as the name suggests, is offered by the International Health, Racquet & Sportsclub Association (IHRSA). The award recognizes the IHRSA club that does the best job working with community partners to promote and support the creation of new tennis players.

* Attention guys: If you think health clubs are testosterone-fueled male hangouts, you'd better hold on to your Y chromosome. A new study from the National Sporting Goods Association (NSGA) shows that 53.4 percent of the people who work out at clubs are women. Furthermore, many of the activities in health clubs draw mostly female participants. Women showed the highest dominance in Step aerobics (89.7 percent), aerobic exercising (77.7 percent), kickboxing (56.5 percent), swimming (53.7 percent) and exercising with equipment (53.6 percent).
