Life Fitness named John E. Stransky as its new president. Stransky succeeds Peter B. Hamilton, who has been named president of Knoxville, TN-based Brunswick Boat Group. Formerly president of Brunswick Bowling and Billiards, Stransky is based in Life Fitness' Schiller Park, IL, world headquarters and will continue to report to Brunswick Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Dustan E. McCoy.

The National Intramural-Recreational Sports Association (NIRSA) through its NIRSA Services Corp. and its in-house agency, College Connect Inc., has appointed IMG, a sports, entertainment and media company, as its authorized agent and representative in connection with sponsorship and marketing programs associated with NIRSA and its member institutions.

The Reno YMCA will move to a new location two miles from its 60-year-old downtown facility, which has fallen into a state of disrepair and would cost $12 million to fix. The Y plans to build an 11,000-square-foot, state-of-the-art fitness center complete with a locker room, cardio and strength training equipment, a mind-body-spirit center and an aerobics studio. The new facility will open this summer.

Three new fitness industry veterans joined Octane Fitness. Ken Germano, former president and CEO of the American Council on Exercise, became the new commercial sales manager for the West Coast and national accounts; David Corley, previously a regional sales manager at True Fitness Technology Inc., was named the commercial sales manager for the central U.S. states; and Daniel Kennedy, most recently a regional sales manager at Precor Inc., became the commercial sales manager for the East Coast and hospitality accounts.

Active Network, a San Diego-based technology provider to sports, nonprofits and activity organizers, has acquired Promote It, a Lakewood, CO-based club promotions agency. David Bunch, marketing/member relations manager, said the acquisition would help Promote It to expand its offerings to health clubs.
