Life Time Fitness Expanding in Tennessee to Cool Springs

Life Time Fitness is set to open the Cool Springs location, which is its second location in Tennessee, in August 2017.

Life Time Fitness, Chanhassen, Minnesota, is planning to open its first location in the Middle Tennessee region next year.

The two-story, 120,000-square-foot club will be located in Cool Springs along the Carothers Parkway Corridor mixed-use development at Liberty Pike, according to a media release Tuesday by commercial real estate firm SouthStar LLC. The club is expected to open in August 2017, SouthStar CEO Glenn Wilson told Club Industry.

The Cool Springs location will be Life Time Fitness' second location in Tennessee. The lone Life Time Fitness club currently in Tennessee is in Collierville near Memphis.

“In every market we enter, we are privileged to provide a positive economic impact and also a positive health impact to the community and residents,” Jeff Zweifel, chief operating officer, Life Time Fitness, said in a statement. "We are excited to bring our healthy way of life destination to the area.”

Glen McGehee, president, SouthStar, said in a statement that his company is "very excited" to bring Life Time Fitness to the area and called it a "unique opportunity." The club will be adjacent to the 147-acre, $1 billion mixed-use Ovation development under construction near Nissan Headquarters that SouthStar is helping to develop.

“The energy and excitement surrounding this flourishing development along the Carothers Corridor continues to grow, and we’re confident Franklin residents and beyond will find Life Time to be a great addition to the community,” McGehee said.

Cool Springs is located about 15 miles south of Nashville near Franklin. Cool Springs is located in Williamson County, which has a population of 209,870 and is expected to grow to more than 400,000 by 2040, according to a trends report issued this week by Williamson Inc. Williamson County is expected to see a 24 percent increase in individuals between the ages of 20 and 39 from 2015 to 2025, according to the report.

“Franklin and Williamson County are a great fit for Life Time as we’re one of the growing, active lifestyle communities in the state,” Franklin Mayor Ken Moore said in a statement. “We’re committed to building an even healthier community, and this location will be a perfect addition for our residents.”
