Life Time Fitness, Chanhassen, Minnesota, has announced plans to open its second location in Massachusetts.
A preview center for the Life Time Athletic MetroWest facility will open Friday at the club's location in Framingham at 490 Old Connecticut Path. Life Time Athletic MetroWest is expected to open this summer, according to a media release from Life Time Fitness. The company's other facility in Massachusetts, a Life Time Athletic club, is located south of Boston in Westwood.
"We are so pleased that Life Time selected the MetroWest area — specifically, the Town of Framingham — for its second destination in the state," Charles Sisitsky, chair, Framingham Board of Selectmen, said in a statement. "The Life Time mission to provide an entertaining, educational, functional and innovative, friendly and inviting experience for the entire family is a needed and welcomed addition to our community."
Life Time Athletic MetroWest will be a three-story, 123,000-square-foot facility. Amenities will include an indoor and outdoor aquatics center with zero-depth entry pools, lap pools and outdoor water slides; four squash courts; five group exercise studios; 400 pieces of cardio and resistance training equipment; Core 3–Life Time Training Method; two regulation-sized basketball courts; Life Spa; Life Café; Life Time Kids Academy; and complimentary towel and locker service.
"We are delighted to bring our truly unique and personalized healthy way of life approach and experience to Framingham and the surrounding communities," Jeff Zwiefel, chief operating officer, Life Time Fitness, said in a statement. "As with each of our healthy living, healthy aging destinations across the country, Life Time Athletic MetroWest offers something for every age and physical ability. From fitness to training, to recreation and entertainment, to aquatics, nutrition, spa, relaxation and more, we help every member of the family achieve their individual health and fitness goals."
Life Time Athletic MetroWest is the latest in a string of new clubs announced by Life Time Fitness this year. This month, the company announced plans for a second location in Tennessee at Cool Springs and a location on the former Reader's Digest site in New Castle, New York. In the Chicago suburb of Northbrook, a real estate development proposal led by Life Time Fitness gained approval from local leaders. Plans for the first Life Time clubs for Wisconsin and New York City were revealed in January.
As of March, Life Time Fitness operated 119 centers in 26 states and in 35 markets under the Life Time Fitness and Life Time Athletic brands in the United States and Canada.
