A suspect is in custody after allegedly stabbing a man who was working out at an LA Fitness in Lawrence, Indiana, on Tuesday.
Officers were called to the LA Fitness on Pendleton Pike at 3:15 p.m. on report of a stabbing of a 20-year-old victim, according to FOX 59. When the police arrived on scene, officers discovered the victim with a stab wound to the back and the weapon still stuck in his body, according to the Indianapolis Star.
The suspect, Bryan Fearman, 22, fled on foot and was apprehended about a block away from the gym a short time later. A nearby U.S. Army Reserve Center was placed on lockdown as officers searched for Fearman on foot. Fearman was charged with attempted murder.
The victim was transported to the hospital and authorities said he was in critical condition after surgery on Tuesday night.
“Every indication is that this was a targeted event and not a random event at all,” Lawrence Police Department Captain Gary Woodruff told FOX 59.
