Make Your Cardio Equipment Purchasing Dollars Go Further

About 70 percent of the usable purchasing power in a facility go toward cardio equipment, according to Matt Thorsen, product manager at Sports Art, Woodinville, Washington. So doesn’t it make sense to make certain that you spend wisely?

In a free webinar sponsored by Sports Art, Thorsen discussed four keys to maximizing your cardio space by analyzing trends in the industry, and he shared some important decision-making factors. The webinar is now available on-demand (and free) by going here.

Thorsen discussed the option of leasing, buying cheap vs. paying more up front for better equipment, the importance of warranties, as well as whether you should buy all one brand of equipment or buy the best in class for each type of equipment (spoiler alert: best in class is usually best).

He also shared some tips for setting up your cardio space, suggesting cardio pods—or areas sprinkled around your facility with a few pieces of cardio equipment instead of all cardio equipment restricted to one area of the facility. By putting cardio equipment throughout the facility, you allow people to go to a more private area to work out if they want or you can set up the pod so it overlooks an area of the gym that you may want those cardio-only people to get to know better in hopes they will use that space.

You can get more tips by watching this webinar. Again, it’s free and on-demand.
