The club industry in the spotlight
The Mid-Atlantic Club Management Association (MACMA) has selected the American Council on Exercise (ACE) to be a preferred certification provider for its network of 70 clubs. MACMA is a regional nonprofit trade association affiliated with IHRSA. Through its association with ACE, all fitness professionals working for a MACMA member club will have the opportunity to become ACE-certified.
Fabiano Designs International unveiled a prototype design for World Gym International's new Express Gyms at the World Gym Convention and Arnold Fitness Weekend in Ohio. World Gym Express is designed to reach a broader market by placing small, upscale, satellite facilities in densely populated cities, corporate centers and suburban growth areas within three to five miles of a World Gym host facility. These sites will feature 5,000 to 6,000 square feet and include cardio, small circuit, dumbbells, stretching and abs areas, as well as upscale locker rooms. All group exercise programs would be available at the host facility.
The world-famous New York Juliard School of Music has teamed up with Crunch Fitness to bring classical music to a wider audience base. “Ten O'clock Classics” is a new program offered by Crunch and features students and alumni from Juliard performing live in the gym. The musicians will make monthly appearances at various Crunch locations throughout New York City through September. Club members can enjoy concert pianists, opera singers, brass sections and string quartets in a 60-minute concert featuring both new and traditional selections. The performances will include both pre- and post-concert drink receptions, providing audience members with an opportunity to socialize and interact with musicians.
