- Penn Athletic Club, based in the Pittsburgh area, has changed its name to Copper Mountain Health and Fitness. It is also relocating to a new 9,000-square-foot facility. The full-fitness facility will offer group fitness classes, karate, saunas, childcare, boxing area, juice bar, expanded strength and cardio equipment, as well as various health-related services. The new facility will be completed in February.
- Imagine Survivor in a health club instead of on an island, and you'll have an idea of what's currently going on at the Las Vegas Athletic Clubs.
Viewers of NBC's Las Vegas affiliate, News 3, were invited to plead their case as to why their fellow viewers should pick them to work out at Las Vegas Athletic Clubs for an entire year. Six hundred viewers entered, 7,000 votes were tallied, and five people made the cut.
Over the next 12 months, News 3 will chronicle the progress of the five "surviving" finalists during its evening broadcasts. Although it's doubtful any of the contestants will walk around the gym naked, it's almost guaranteed that they will all look better than Richard Hatch when the year-long program concludes.
