Should Obesity Be Classified as a Disease?

Obesity is a disease, according to the American Medical Association (AMA). Members of the association voted Tuesday at its annual meeting in Chicago to classify obesity as such.

A press release from the AMA says that the physicians group adopted a policy that recognizes obesity as a disease requiring a range of medical interventions to advance obesity treatment and prevention.
