Results Are in on Best of the Best

The results have been tabulated and the winners have been notified. Now, we can proudly announce this year's winners of the Best of the Best contest. Drum roll, please...

The winner of the Best Behavior Modification Program is Chesapeake Energy Corp., Oklahoma City, for its 30-week Live Better Forever program for employees at high medical and emotional risk.

In the Best Children's Program category, the winner is Sparrow's Michigan Athletic Club, East Lansing, MI, for its High School Musical Dance program, which the judges said was creative and capitalized on the current trends in dance, music, acting and TV shows.

The Atlantic Club, Manasquan, NJ, is the winner of the Best Community-Based Program. It's Clubs for the Cure program involved more than 600 clubs and their members, raising $600,000 for Augie's Quest, which is helping find a cure for ALS.

The winner of the Best Group Training category is the Lindenhurst Health & Fitness Center of Lake Forest Hospital, Lindenhurst, IL, for its Lose to Win program, which was a boot camp challenge type program.

In the Best New Member Integration program, the winner is Akron General Lifestyles, Akron, OH, for its Roadmap to Fitness program, which offers a checklist for new members to help them become better acquainted with the programming at their club--and along the way, helping to increase personal training revenue.

The Best Nonmember Program winner is Big Vanilla Athletic Club, Arnold, MD, for its 90-Day Challenge Program, using teams to help members meet their fitness goals.

Congratulations to all these winners and to the other wonderful entrants in this year's contest.

This year's winners will be featured in the October issue of Club Industry, and they will receive their awards prior to the keynote address at 11:45 a.m. on Friday, Oct. 16, at the Club Industry show in Chicago.
