If you were not at the IHRSA 2014 show or the Bash for Augie's Quest on March 14, you might have caught the episode of "Inside Job" on TNT that featured David Barton Gym, New York. If so, you already know who got the job as social media director and who the "insider" was. If you did not watch the episode but plan to watch it online, please stop reading now.
If you do not plan to watch but are curious about who was hired and who was the spy, then you may proceed. However, I won't reveal which of the candidates took the company's slogan of "look better naked" rather seriously. You'll have to watch the episode online to see that.
The premise of the TV show is that a company is in search of a high-level employee, and the CEO or owner of that company agrees to let the TV producers of "Inside Job" select three candidates for that position. Those three candidates live together in a house for a week enduring two challenges to gauge their worthiness for the job. Also living in the house is someone who already is employed by the company but who presents himself or herself as a fourth candidate for the job. The insider reports back to the CEO of the company about who he or she thinks is the right candidate.
For the David Barton Gym episode, the insider was Jared (the second person from the left in the photo above), whose real name is Andrew. Andrew has been the marketing manager at David Barton Gym since 2004. And who did he recommend that Howard Brodsky, CEO of David Barton Gym, hire? He recommended, and Brodsky hired, Alisa (the person on the far left in the photo above).
You might find that recommendation hard to believe if you watch this clip from the episode where Andrew (still pretending to be a candidate for the job) accuses Alisa of not listening to him during one of the challenges.
Although the episode was shot in the fall, Alisa could not start her job with David Barton Gym until after the episode aired. We'll see how this hire works out in the months to come.
